Awaken Hope (again).
The Story of Sela
Drug possession. Police battery. And worse. They lived moving from motel to motel to friends house back to motel. Sometimes her mom wouldn’t even come home or sometimes her mom would be away for months at a time.
Sela learned to live on the streets. She learned the currency of survival and that she had to fend for herself because no one, not even her mom, was going to do that for her. There was the time she lived literally behind a Walgreens, and the time she passed the night hours shivering in a blanket on the beach. This was life as she knew it.
But then there was the time somebody showed up, kept their word, accepted Sela and believed in her. Today Sela really is a poster child for a system that desperately needs our help. There are thousands of girls just like Sela who deserve better. We want to reach EVERY one of them.
Awaken Hope.
