Say a prayer for Haiti

January 12, 2010 4:53pm.…..the people of Haiti will remember it for years to come. I can only imagine the fear that gripped them as the world began to shake and their city fell apart around them. Countless lives were lost and many more may never be found. Haiti is a country with a rich culture and a spirited people. It’s also a country gripped by poverty and devastated by one disaster after another. I’ve heard Haiti referred to as “The first fourth-world country”. More then a week has passed and for most the immediate shock of the devastation has faded. But the pain that the people of Haiti are experiencing is as deep as it was the first moments after the earthquake.

If you’re like me, sitting home and watching the news doesn’t feel like enough. Something on the inside of me desires so deeply to be there with the people of Haiti, on the streets right there with them, if nothing more then just to be there. I want to do more! I know there are many of you that feel the same way. You can start my saying a prayer for Haiti. Just like the earth around them shook so does the atmosphere when we begin to pray.

Father, I pray for those that need you most right now. I do not know there names but I know You hear their cries. I pray life over the people of Haiti! I pray peace that would surround them in the midst of uncertainty. Lord You are faithful and loving. I pray that the people of Haiti would cling to that truth. I pray that resources would flood in, bodies would be healed, and hope would be restored. I know Your desire is for them. May they know that too. In Jesus’ name- Amen.

Praying is one of the best ways I know how to “be there”. Maybe you can do more. Pray, give, go. There are many organizations that have risen to the occasion and are already on the ground.

The days to come to will be rough for the people of Haiti. As their bodies heal and their dead are buried, and as their cities are rebuilt the truth of knowing that there are people all across the world giving and praying will ease them along the road to restoration.

The people of Haiti are no longer strangers to me. Haiti and its people have my heart and my prayers.

Help awaken hope in Haiti.

Awaken hope in Haiti

Taylor’s Closet is partnering to support hundreds of orphans in need right now.

Right now, we’re asking you to send us ALL of your used (but in good condition) clothes. For boys and girls.
Right now we’re asking you to ask your ALL of your friends to do the same.

There are so many things we want to do to help. There is so much need. But we (you and us) have proven we have the ability to minister the love of God through clothes. So that’s what we’re going to do.

With your help, we’re going to clothe as many children in earthquake-ravaged area as we can possibly get to. We’re working with two other organizations who are culturally familiar with the Haitian people and we’ve been given access to places most people just can’t get to.

So help us. Help them. Please.

Pass this on. Send us your used clothing. And then pray. Pray with a knowing compassion that our Father in heaven is already moving to restore and redeem that nation.

God bless you,
Linds
